I've been a member of this church since 2012. My husband and I joined this church because of the people. All UU churches welcomes people of any race, economic status, sexual orientation, at any place during their faith journey. This particular congregation, in Hillsboro, lives the UU seven principles every day. The members not only welcome you on your first visit, but on every visit and they truly care about you and your family and have a great network to support you. For those who aren't familiar with UU's, it is a great match for people who wish to increase spirituality in their lives but don't want to be tied to a specific religious belief.
The UU faith believes that each person is on his or her own path to spirituality, and that the support of those individual paths in community allow us together to do great things. Consequently, services explore many faith traditions--ranging from Christianity to Buddhism, from earth-based spirituality to Humanism. The church is dedicated to social justice issues and lives that dedication with it's membership volunteering and providing funding for many non-profit causes in the local community. The members range from young families with toddlers to singles and retired folks like myself. It is a large enough congregation to provide great fellowship opportunities, yet small enough that I never fill lost or forgotten.Added June 07, 2017 by Maggie Lynch - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
So warm and welcoming. They put their beliefs to work, with volunteering and food drives and other activities. Exactly what I was looking for in a spiritual community.
